Re: What Book Are You Reading Right Now? « Result #5 on Dec 21, 2009, 1:50pm »
Cheers bro.
I'm having the same problem as you with the links you just sent me. The God Delusion worked straight away whilst the others are not working, too busy et cetera. It's not a massive problem as I've got all of Dawkin's books and all of Hitchen's religious focused books anyway.
I want the audiobooks as it's more convenient to carry them around on my iPod/plug them into the car as opposed to lugging all the books around themselves. With me being a perfectionist it's twice as bad, because I get really pissed if the books get damaged or creased, so I tend not to take them anywhere. It's been like that since I had a copy of The Two Towers in my bag in 2001 and it was ruined when I was coming home from college in what can only be described as a monsoon.
As you said about rapidshare, I'll keep trying the downloads over the next couple of days, hopefully we'll get them all.

I've just read through this whole thread in order to remind myself of films I've seen this decade, in order to make a 'best films of the decade' list...

My... Adam... For you..
..Of course. And if not, I can find them. Which ones do you want?
I'll get on with sending you some Dawkins and The Sagan book.. As I'm guessing you'll jizz over them. It's actually Richard Dawkins and his bird reading his books.. But also a couple of robot voice ones so.. Fuck those ones..

Yes, I found out about Pale Blue Dot from it being quoted in The God Delusion, it's precisely the sort of thing I love. And I've managed to find links for the new Dawkins audiobook, but rapidshare is constantly too busy to give free download slots.. Hoping to download it during my week off at xmas.

Oh a bit of Carl Sagan eh. Only recently discovered him.
I'm currently reading The Selfish Gene - unfortunately it's not as engaging as Dawkin's latest but he's had 30+ years to improve his writing so that's not too surprising. Also start on Global Warming: A Very Short Introduction as I felt I should try and actually understand some of the science, but it is quite hard to get your head around. Also kind of started reading Coraline and Other Stories by Neil Gaiman having watched the film recently and been lent the book.

I've done some shading now, we did all her hair on thursday. Only problem was I'd just had the swine flu, so it hurt like a bitch. Getting tattoed after you've had a fever for a week is a seriously bad idea. Fifteen minutes in my back was so swollen Sandy started having trouble getting the ink in. And it oozed. A lot. "It's like trying to tattoo in the rain," said Sandy.
And I've been using Badger Evolving Body Balm on it which seems to work really well. No scabs.

It saddens me that I get a 'Fuck Me' in 30+ capitals for not liking the Skitliv! I just found the Sabbathy riffage a bit tedious, some splendid vocals on it though. I tend to rate stuff like that on how it sounds driving home from work, through the grim and frostbitten ( ) countryside and Skitliv wasn't generating the correct atmosphere of despair, abject misery, loneliness, grief and pain that I seek after another night of mindlessly serving up more turkey to cadaverous old bastards. So I put the Lady Gaga cd on instead...
Without getting all 'Sloynes' on yer ass, I think I know what the Talanas news is. And all I'm gonna say is (as it's not my place to elaborate much further), yeah, I'll have some of that!
Hmm, ok, not sure whether it is what you think but I'm curious to know what you think it is... blog should be up soon.
All I know is what I read in the Eulogy Media ad in november's Terrorizer mag. 4 track ep and the 'Leftfield Winter Tour' with DAM. As I said, I'm up for some of that, so if you end up playing around Yorkshire, I'll see ya there. There's a stong chance that if my sneaky fucker mates from Huddersfield go, you'll get bootlegged in the form of a high quality dvd with menus and all sorts of fancy things. It's a labour of love for them and strictly for non-profit trade with other like-minded metallists. Ask Dan Ropeman from the Ted about it as they've done a few Ted shows and even did DAM at this years Deathfest. Good lads really and the end result is usually very good.
Altar Of Plagues - 'White Tomb'. Yet more stunning ambient BM, also very WITTR. Are you on this one 13%?
lmfao indeed I am..And I'll be seeing them at Roadburn 2010. Check out Panopticon - you'll no doubt dig them as well.
And FUUUUUCCCCKKKYYOOOOOOOU ANDDDYYYYYY Skitliv are genius.
Alcest - Percées De Lumière.
Pretty damn cool. You should check out this bands record 'Le Secret' and also his other band Amesoeurs.. Their eponymous album is probably my 2nd favourite release this year.. Post Punk/new wave meets black metal. Which has just reminded me that you'd probably like Hateful Abandon as well.

Hey Nina! Did you start with the shading or did the swine flu cause you to cancel? Don't know what you have been instructed to use as after-care but I use Bepanthen nappy cream on new tattoos. They are generally fully healed after 4-6 days and there is no scab formation. Which is nice.

Randon thought. Fuck this shit I've had enough, you can stick your Christmas right up your fucking arse! Its' a load of old Bob Toss and Billy Wank.
Very good suggestion. How far into it now are you 13%?
Found the G.E.C.K and haven't gone off with the brotherhood of steel yet.. Trying to get some more random shit done with Fawkes first. Haven't played it for a bit, been in a film mood.. But when I get back to it.. Oooooooooooooh. That is all. xxx

I don't really know who they've influenced besides a lot of other bands who sound exactly like them. Also the kids have already heard them, they love to sing along to 'fuck you I won't tidy my bedroom'.
Re: Rage against the X factor « Result #37 on Dec 10, 2009, 8:56pm »
I love RATM. Got to see them live in '96 and '97 and it was brilliant. I'd support this campaign if I was in Britain simply because they were one of the most influential bands of the nineties and kids today need to hear them.
I personally find this idea to be a load of wank for a multitude of reasons, not least because I fucking hate RATM, but also because they were signed to Epic, and imprint of Sony, of which Simon Cowell is a major shareholder and hence he will in fact profit from this campaign, when people who wouldn't have bought the X Factor single anyway buy a song they wouldn't have bought otherwise. It's almost as ridiculous as last years "get the cover of Leonard Cohen's song that it's cool and acceptable to like to number one, rather than the cover we don't like despite not having heard it, or for that matter, the actual Leonard Cohen original" campaign.
Don't like 'em myself mate but would be worth it just for the giggles of a song with lots of fuck in it at No.1 and not have yet another karaoke dipstick there.........not that I remotely care about the charts

Found this on facewank and thought it was a great idea as I am somewhat of a shit stirring wind up merchant....plus i fucking loathe x factor and all the other associated talentless twat programmes.

Mini argument day over, sleep time. Blessed are those who sleep. There were a shit load of gays in the showers at the gym today, fucking starring at me and shit. Maybe they wanted my arse hole in their face.

I've managed to get sat 19th of december off work. This means I can go to The Wildhearts gig in Leeds. That night shall be my Xmas and New Year all in one as I'm working all of the festive period. Needless to say, a couple of pints may be had. Wildhearts gig + Xmas tomfoolery = fucking great night!
